Guterres says that while Africa was home to the worlds youngest population and fast becoming a powerhouse in renewable energy and tech innovation, the continent still bore the scars of historical injustices, while the legacies of slavery, colonialism, apartheid, and systemic racism still cast long shadows, entrenching inequalities.
He urges support for Africas efforts to expand its clean-energy sector and ensure that the minerals that are critical to the renewables revolution benefit Africans first and most.
