Miami Hurricanes linebacker Adarius Hayes was involved in a crash in the Tampa Bay area Saturday that killed two children and left several others hospitalized with 'serious injuries," authorities confirmed.
The crash happened at around 1:45 p.m. in the 20-year-old athlete's hometown of Largo, in Pinellas County, authorities confirmed.
According to the Largo Police Department, 10-year-old Jabari Elijah Solomon and 4-year-old Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria were killed when a Dodge Durango collided with a Kia Soul turning left at an intersection.
Police haven't provided information about Hayes' condition or whether he was driving at the time. A spokesperson told Local 10 News the investigation is "active and ongoing."
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, police said.
