From February 25 next year, the UK will make its Electronic Travel Authorisation ETA requirement mandatory for all travellers from visa-free countries.
Although the first phase of the ETA was introduced in January , it was not strictly enforced to allow visitors time to adjust to the new requirement.
Visa-free countries will now need digital permission from the ETA to enter the UK, including visitors catching connecting flights that require them to go through UK passport control. Airlines will check passengers prior to boarding.
