Ugandan businessman Mukesh Babubhai Shukla has been ordered by the High Court to pay Ush14 billion 3.9 million for illegally occupying Shumuk House, formerly Katatumba Suites, in central Kampala. This concludes a decade-long dispute with the family of the late Bonney Mwebesa Katatumba, a prominent businessman and former Pakistani consul to Uganda.
Shukla fined over fraudulent property dealings
Since 2008, Shukla has held the property, but ownership became the subject of a prolonged legal dispute with the family of the late Bonney Mwebesa Katatumba. The family argued that the transactions transferring the property to Shukla were improperly executed and fraudulent.
