South Africa's pioneering digital-first bank, TymeBank, is preparing for a significant evolution with plans to rebrand as GoTyme in the first half of 2026. The move will align its South African operations with its global identity, already established in international markets such as the Philippines and Vietnam.
Under the leadership of CEO Karl Westvig and Tyme Group CEO Coen Jonker, the bank has achieved major milestones in recent years - including reaching profitability in 2023 and surpassing 11 million customers. These accomplishments position the company among the most successful digital banking ventures on the continent.
Backed by African Rainbow Capital, chaired by Patrice Motsepe, the rebrand signals TymeBank's transition into a new era of maturity, scale, and global cohesion. It also reinforces its status as one of the few profitable neobanks worldwide, demonstrating the strength and sustainability of its digital banking model within Africa's fast-evolving fintech ecosystem.
