TP Mazembe head coach Lamine NDiaye has lashed out at the referee following his sides defeat at Al Ahly in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League. The Red Devils booked their spot in the CAF Champions League final for the 17th time in the club's history after defeating Mazembe 3-0 on aggregate. Despite a fiery start to the second leg, Al Ahly left it late and struck three times through Mohamed Abdelmonem, Wessam Abou Ali, and Akram Tawfik. However, it could have been a different story if referee Peter Waweru hadnt ruled out Joel Beyas opener in the 57th minute after consulting the VAR on a handball on the Congolese striker. Speaking on the refereeing performance, Mazembe boss Lamine NDiaye said: We must talk about it; we lost by three goals, which angers me. I am frustrated because I know well that we are in Africa; if we want to progress, the referees must be serious and better than that. The game was one-sided regarding refereeing, and I know well that we are human and can make mistakes, but I am frustrated, and this affected us and our focus. The referee played a negative role in this match, and Al Ahly does not need that, he added.
