Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly reopened negotiations with Crystal Palace to sign Eberechi Eze amid James Maddison's injury as the England internationals wait for a bid from Arsenal drags on.
Softfootball understands that the Crystal Palace playmaker has a desire to join the Gunners this summer, with sources close to the player maintaining throughout the window that he was effectively just waiting for formal contact from Mikel Arteta's side which hasnt happen.
Spurs are working on Ezes transfer separately from a potential deal for Manchester City winger Savinho , aiming to strengthen the squad following James Maddison's injury and Son Heung-min's departure.
Eze is interested in the move, but the key factor remains Palace's position. Previously, Eze had a release clause, but it has now expired, so the transfer terms will be decided by the club.
Crystal Palace signed Eze from QPR in summer 2020 for 16 million. Last season, he scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 43 appearances.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed via his X handle that Spurs have reopened talks to sign Eberechi Eze in a deal separate from their pursuit of Savinho. They are revisiting their interest in the Crystal Palace midfielder as they work on both transfers simultaneously, prompted by James Maddison's injury and Son Heung-min's departure. His tweet reads:
Spurs see Eze as a versatile addition who could not only operate as a No.10, but also provide quality on the left side of their attack. That positional flexibility makes him an appealing target in light of losing James Maddison to injury and Son Heung-min to LAFC.
Eberechi Eze is continuing to wait but knows Palace will sell if strong offers land. Tottenham Hotspur must move quickly if they are to beat Arsenal and other suitors to his signature.
