Transnet National Ports Authority TNPA has approved two landmark concession awards in the Port of Durban that will boost the Southern African Development Community SADC regions global competitiveness in fresh produce trade.
The transactions will unlock more than R1 billion of private-sector investment in modernising infrastructure in the ports Maydon Wharf Precinct, while strengthening Durbans strategic position as a gateway for agricultural and perishable exports.
African Port Logistics and Infrastructure Pty Ltd, trading as KHOLD, has been appointed as the preferred bidder to handle fresh produce and compatible break-bulk cargo with a planned investment of R250 million, TNPA said on Monday.
