Ten Ekurhuleni police officers accused of theft are expected to continue with their bail applications at the Germiston Magistrates Court, east of Johannesburg, this morning.

Their bid to be released on bail pending investigations began yesterday during their first court appearance.

Its alleged they raided a shop in Edenvale in June and allegedly stole cigarettes worth R150 000, R35 000 in cash as well as boxes of Panado.

The officers arrest followed a complaint by the shop owner that over R180 000 in cigarette stock and cash were not declared or booked in by police involved in the raid.

CCTV footage from the shop led to the arrest of the officers who are members of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department and the Tsakane SAPS.
