South Africa captain Temba Bavuma created history in the second Test against India in Guwahati. Dismissed for 41 on the first day Bavuma became the first South African captain to score 1,000 runs in the World Test Championship WTC.
Bavuma shared a crucial 84-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs 49 before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. He had also scored a half-century in the previous Test in Kolkata, continuing his brilliant run of form.
With this milestone, Bavuma became the ninth captain worldwide to score over 1,000 runs in the World Test Championship. Joe Root holds the record for most runs as captain in the World Test Championship, with 2,835 runs in 32 matches.
