Trade, Industry and Competition DTIC Minister, Parks Tau will together with International Relations Minister, Ronald Lamola give an update on South Africas efforts on mitigation measures against imposition of a 30 tariff on South African goods, by the United States.
The briefing set for, Monday at the Government Communication and Information System GCIS follows concerns of the tariffs on the South African economy, and the impact on industries that export to the United States.
Government says its committed to continuing negotiations with the US to reach a deal that is mutually beneficial, and it continues engaging with other countries which are going through a similar processes.
An export support desk has been established and is expected to provide updates and support to affected exporters.
"Government is committed to continue negotiating with the United States to reach a deal that is mutually beneficial and avert a situation where South African exports become uncompetitive in the global trade. trading market," says DTIC ministerial spokesperson, Kaamil Alli.
