New data from the Nigerian Communications Commission NCC has revealed that T2 experienced a significant drop in its subscriber base over the period from August to October 2025. According to the Commission's Mobile Number Portability MNP statistics, approximately 2,725 subscribers left T2, while only 61 new users joined during the same period, indicating a sharp net outflow for the telecom operator.
This development comes against the backdrop of the NCC's regulatory mandate under Section 89, Subsection 3d of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 NCA 2003, which requires the Commission to monitor the telecommunications industry, provide statistical analyses, and identify trends affecting services, tariffs, operators, and subscribers, with the aim of determining areas where regulatory intervention may be needed.
T2's dwindling subscriber numbers are reflected in its current market share, which stands at 1.80 of total GSM subscribers in Nigeria as of November 2025. The operator lags behind major competitors such as MTN 51.89, Airtel 33.78, and Globacom 12.54.
