Three people alleged to be part of a syndicate involved in printing and distributing counterfeit money will be back in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Thursday next week.

The accused, who are Cameroonian nationals, appeared in court on Thursday.

During their arrest in Elardus Park in Pretoria on Tuesday, they were found in possession of machines used to print counterfeit South African rand and US dollar notes.

The National Prosecuting Authoritys Lumka Mahanjana says one of the accused tried to bribe police with R2000 in exchange for their release.

Police were patrolling and found one of the accused in possession of the printing machine, who then took them to a guest house where the other two were busy operating a similar printing machine and printing counterfeit money. During their brief court appearance, the matter was postponed to 10 July 2025 for a bail investigation.
