The Lionesses of Teranga will aim to improve on their performance at WAFCON 2022, where they were knocked out in the quarterfinals by Zambia after a penalty shootout. Senegal reached the knockout stages in 2022 by finishing second in group A behind hosts Morocco. This tournament marks the nations third appearance at the WAFCON Finals.

After a 13 year hiatus, the Democratic Republic of the Congo have returned to the WAFCON Finals. The country has only participated in three previous editions, with their best performance coming in 1998 where the Leopardesses claimed the bronze medal. They will look to join Morocco atop group A with a victory on Sunday afternoon.
