A student from Walter Sisulu University WSU has approached the high court in Bhisho after claiming the provincial government failed to honour a bursary agreement that was meant to cover her studies at the university.
Yonwaba Nabhanti filed an urgent application against the premier of the Eastern Cape and WSU, asking the court to declare the premiers failure to honour the terms of the office of the premier Eastern Cape bursary South Africa 2024' as unlawful and unconstitutional.
The bursary awarded in April 2024 was meant to pay for Nabhantis tuition and other expenses for 2024, 2025 and 2026. However, according to the amended notice of motion, the premiers office has not paid for the applicants tuition fees and other ancillary expenses for the years 2024 and 2025'.
