Members of Unite union who are employees ofAviation Fuel Services (AFS) at London Heathrow could go on strike for 72 hours from May 4, resulting in significant flight disruptions.

According to simpleflying.com , Unite announced that 50 AFS employees are planning a strike that may result in departing flights being delayed, disrupted or cancelled due to theinability to refuel.Data from Cirium shows that LHR has 2 671 outbound flights scheduled between May 3 and 6.

AFS, a joint venture between major oil and gas companies, including Air BP, Total, Q8 Air and Valero, is being accused of reducing benefits for new employees.

Unite has reiterated to AFSand LHR that its members are responsible for refuelling aircraft for 35 international carriers such as Virgin Atlantic, Air France, Emirates, andEthiopian Airlines.
