Democratic Alliance DA leader John Steenhuisen has denied speculation that external pressures and interests led to the removal of Dr Dion George as Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Minister.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced Georges sacking on Wednesday evening 12 November and replaced him with Willie Aucamp, who has been the DA national spokesperson alongside Karabo Khakhau.

The President also appointed Alexandra Lilian Amelia Abrahams as Deputy Minister for Trade, Industry and Competition. This position has been vacant since Ramaphosa fired Andrew Whitfield in June.
