Some of the biggest names in South African and international sport are set to descend on Cape Town this Wednesday for a star-studded touch rugby exhibition match, blending celebrity, philanthropy, and football ambition in one high-energy event.
Hosted at the Western Province Cricket Club on 30 July, the showcase will feature sporting greats including former All Blacks fly-half Carlos Spencer, Springbok favourites Juan de Jongh and Rudy Paige, and media personality Siv Ngesi. Together, the line-up will take to the field in a spirited match aimed at raising awareness around youth development, access to education, and the positive influence of sport.
Beyond the action on the pitch, the event will also mark a life-changing moment for one young South African girl. Organisers will officially present a R45 000 sponsorship to support her participation in the Real Madrid Foundation Educational Football Programme, a global initiative partnered locally with Generation Schools. The bursary, funded by Kensio House and former Proteas cricketer Steven Palframan, will cover a full year of both schooling and elite football training.
Organisers say the event is more than just a celebration of sport, it's a reminder of what can be achieved when opportunities are created for youth at grassroots level.
Adding to the buzz, Sekhukhune United is expected to make a major announcement during the event.
