Retired Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department EMPD Deputy Police Chief Revo Spies says Acting Deputy EMPD Chief Julius Mkhwanazi was at the scene of a Meyerton business when copper was confiscated and stolen by officers.
Spies testified at the Madlanga Commission on Monday. He says the confiscation of the copper cables was illegal.
Spies says EMPD officers linked to Mkhwanazi had embarked on illegal activities, which are subject to Independent Police Investigative Directorate IPID investigations.
