South African and Zambian players dominated the Womens Africa Cup of Nations 2024 WAFCON team of the tournament, as announced on Wednesday, following the group stage matches.
This team highlights the standout players thus far in the tournament being held in Morocco, according to the Confederation of African Football CAF.
Eight teams have advanced to the tournaments quarterfinals, which will commence on Friday: Morocco, Zambia, Senegal, Nigeria, Algeria, South Africa, Ghana, and Mali.
Desiree Ellis , the head coach of South Africa, has been recognised as the best coach for the group stage. Elliss Banyana Banyana, the reigning champions, remained undefeated during the group phase and finished at the top of their group with seven goals scored and only one conceded.
Three players from South Africa have been included in the Best XI: defenders Bambanani Mbane and Fikile Magama, along with midfielder Refiloe Jane.
