The Immigration and Citizenship Agency of Somalia has officially launched its E-VISA/ETAS service, which will take effect from September 1, 2025. The new system allows foreigners to apply for visas electronically via the agency's official portal , marking a historic milestone in Somalia's adoption of modern digital immigration systems.
According to the Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Isxaaq Hassan Takow, the platform has been under preparation for a long period and is designed to simplify visa applications by making them accessible to travelers anywhere in the world, with approvals delivered quickly and efficiently. Specially trained officers will oversee the process to ensure smooth operations.
Director General Mustafa Duhulow described the launch as a historic step that demonstrates Somalia's alignment with global digital systems. He highlighted that the E-VISA will not only enhance immigration services but also strengthen national security, protect sensitive data, improve economic opportunities, and boost service delivery.
