Deputy Minister in the Presidency Kenny Morolong has called for the speedy prosecution of those accused of the murder of slain journalist Sibusiso Ndlovu and his partner Zodwa Mdhluli.

Morolong was amongst mourners attending the funeral of Ndlovu who was laid to rest in Mahlabathini in Mpumalanga today. Mdhluli was buried yesterday also in Mpumalanga.

Five people arrested in connection with the couples murder appeared in the KwaMhlanga Magistrates Court yesterday where their case was postponed to the fourth of next month.

Morolong says those behind the murders must face the full might of the law.

We are confident that our criminal justice system will ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime must face the full wrath of the law. We intend to make sure of it. Let me reiterate the point that I made yesterday, that Aserie Ndlovu and Zodwa Mdluli were dutiful citizens of this country who had lots to offer to our communities. Their lives were cut short by barbarians whose actions have torn our hearts apart. We thank the police and are encouraged by the arrest affected, and we call for speedy prosecution of the alleged perpetrators to enable families to find closure.
