Sizekhaya Holdings has been awarded the national lottery and sports pool licence, replacing Ithuba Holdings after nearly a decade at the helm, reports Cape town Etc .

The announcement , made by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition dtic, marks the culmination of a rigorous evaluation process involving eight competing bids for the prestigious licence.

The licence held by Ithuba Holdings is set to expire on 31 May, leading to the transition to Sizekhaya Holdings RF Pty Ltd, as confirmed by Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau.

In his statement, Tau expressed that the negotiations concluded satisfactorily, allowing for the timely awarding of the licence. I have awarded Sizekhaya Holdings the licence in terms of section 13 of the Lotteries Act 57 of 1997, he stated.

Tau had originally intended to announce the successful bidder on 28 May 2025, contingent upon successful completion of negotiations.
