Law enforcement officers executed a coordinated operation at businessman Hangwani Maumela's Sandton home on Thursday, seizing luxury cars and a collection of artwork as part of an R820 million asset-recovery effort linked to alleged looting at Tembisa Hospital, Cape town Etc reports.
Authorities drove away several high-end vehicles, including multiple Lamborghinis, according to witnesses at the scene.
According to News24 , the Special Investigating Unit SIU says the move follows a three-year probe into irregular contracts at the hospital. Investigators allege Maumela, President Cyril Ramaphosa's nephew from a previous marriage, used dozens of supplier companies to channel public funds into private contracts.
