The Special Investigation Unit SIU has initiated an investigation into alleged misadministration in the City of Mbombela Municipality in Mpumalanga.
This after the SIU announced that it has received authorisation from President Cyril Ramaphosa to probe maladministration of about seven tenders within the municipality dated between February and May 2025.
The tenders include those for housing, appointment of consultants, construction and legal services.
The investigation aims to recover any losses incurred by the municipality or state.
SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago elaborates on some of the tenders in question.
