Sierra Leone has marked a major step forward in regional digital transformation with the successful deployment of the WanGov platform at the Gbalamuya Border Post on the Guinea-Sierra Leone border. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority SLRSA and Korlie Ltd, is designed to modernize border operations by digitizing government services and streamlining revenue collection.
The WanGov platform enables citizens and businesses to access and pay for government services online, including business registrations, permits, and licenses. One of its most notable features is that users in Conakry, Guinea, can now process and pay for Sierra Leonean government documents before reaching the border, allowing for faster clearance and more efficient cross-border trade.
This digital solution enhances transparency, convenience, and efficiency in public service delivery while reducing administrative delays at border crossings. It represents a tangible step toward regional digital integration, aligning with Sierra Leone's broader vision of building a citizen-centered, technology-driven public sector.
