The man who pleaded guilty to being part of the killing of former African National Congress ANC Youth League secretary general, Sindiso Magaqa , has been sentenced to 25 years for the murder by the Pietermaritzburg High Court in KwaZulu-Natal today.
Sibusiso Ncengwa admitted to shooting Magaqa in 2017 in the uMzimkhulu area and pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of Jabulile Msiya and Nonsikelelo Mafa, who were in the car with Magaqa.
He also pleaded guilty to attempted murder of Nceba Mazongolo who was close to the scene during the shooting.
He faced 11 charges including conspiracy to commit murder, murder, attempted murder and unlawful possession of a fireman as well as ammunition.
Handing down the sentence, Judge Nontuthuzelo Mlaba said Ncengwa showed disregard for human life when he agreed to the ploy to kill Magaqa.
