Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer has parted ways with the Indian team and decided to prolong his stay in Australia to receive adequate treatment for the injury to his rib. After the massive update, his participation in the South Africa series is thrown into major doubt.
During India's campaign against Australia in the three-match ODI tour, Shreyas Iyer emerged as one of the major forces in the Indian batting order. His 61 in the second game in Adelaide and an 118-run partnership alongside Rohit Sharma saved India from another humiliating collapse like Perth.
However, Shreyas suffered a serious blow to his chest as he ran backward and lunged onto a ball, diving forward to make a stunning grab. His left ribs struck the ground bluntly, and the pain was all over his face.
