President Cyril Ramaphosa has made another round of changes to his National Executive, confirming the removal of the DA's Dr Dion George as Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment, a move that has sent ripples through both political and environmental circles.
The surprise announcement, as per the presidency , follows days of speculation after DA leader John Steenhuisen formally requested the change. Replacing George is the DA's national spokesperson, Willie Aucamp, who will now take over the crucial environment portfolio.
Steenhuisen confirmed, via the DAs website , that the reshuffle forms part of an internal restructuring to strengthen the Government of National Unity's GNU reform agenda. He said the decision was not influenced by political pressure, but by the need for strong performance and integrity in key positions.
