Senegal has made significant strides in its digital economy, as highlighted during the Digital Africa Summit on December 5, 2025. The Minister of Communication, Telecommunication and Digital, Alioune Sall, presented the new Report on the Digital Economy of Senegal, which underscores the country's rapid progress in digital infrastructure and services. Key achievements include 97 4G coverage, over 8 million mobile Internet users, a dynamic mobile money ecosystem, and digital maturity levels surpassing the regional average.
The report, developed under the New Deal Technologique initiative, outlines Senegal's ambitious vision for digital transformation. This includes universal connectivity, the establishment of robust digital identities, the expansion of digital public services, and a target of contributing 15 of GDP from the digital sector by 2034.
Economic projections from the report indicate substantial potential, with digital-linked value expected to exceed 1 billion FCFA by 2030. The sector is also anticipated to generate thousands of new jobs and directly enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.
