A new training workshop has been launched in Senegal to equip Members of Parliament MPs with essential knowledge on digital transformation and cybersecurity. Organized by the Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital, in partnership with the National Assembly and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime UNODC, the workshop runs from August 27 to 31, 2025. This strategic program aims to strengthen the lawmakers understanding of critical topics, including digital transformation, artificial intelligence, personal data protection, and the fight against cybercrime.
The overarching objective is to empower parliamentarians with the necessary expertise to create effective public policies and laws that align with Senegal's Technological New Deal and its quest for digital sovereignty. By equipping its lawmakers with this knowledge, the country is taking a proactive step to ensure its legislative framework is robust and capable of supporting its digital ambitions.
The Ministry emphasized that in an age of rising cyber threats, online fraud, and privacy breaches, cybersecurity and data protection are no longer options but have become a national imperative. The Ministry affirmed its commitment to fostering a digital environment that is reliable, ethical, and inclusive for both citizens and businesses, solidifying its role in building a secure digital future for the nation.
