Residents across large parts of the Western and Northern Cape are being urged to take extra precautions as the South African Weather Service SAWS has issued a very hot and uncomfortable weather advisory for Monday, 29 December, reports Cape town Etc .
According to the advisory, extreme heat conditions are expected from 8am to 8pm, with daytime temperatures forecast to climb into the mid to high 30s. Affected areas include the interior of the Namakwa region in the Northern Cape, the Central Karoo, Cape Winelands, northern parts of the Garden Route, the Overberg and sections of the West Coast.
SAWS warned that the prolonged heat could have serious health impacts, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, young children and those with underlying medical conditions.
