The South African Weather Service SAWS has warned of a marked drop in temperatures, with banded showers and increasingly strong winds.
In KwaZulu-Natal, gusty 40 km/h winds and a 60 chance of rain across Durban and inland areas are predicted.
Coastal and mountainous zones, especially the Drakensberg highlands, may face heavy showers, icy lows, and even light snow at elevation.
South Africans have been urged to prepare for a dramatic change in weather with an influx of rain and gusty winds as a cold front approaches.
Forecaster at the SA Weather Service, Lehlohonolo Thobela explains, The cold front expected to result in damaging winds and waves around the south coast today with disruptive rain along the south west coast, If you in the westerncape, expect cloudy conditions with cold temps and a 30 chances of showers and rain that would be scattered to widespread to south west parts, in gauteng we expected a 30 chances of rain and showers with cold temps, but scattered over the southern parts of the province. For KZN, we expect a 30 chance of rain, damaging winds are possible, but not so much flooding is expected.
