Sars Warns Consumers To Ensure They Are Charged 15 Vat

The South African Revenue Service SARS Commissioner Edward Kieswetter has urged consumers to be vigilant at the point of sale to ensure that they are charged 15 Value-Added Tax VAT and to engage their stores should they be charged 15.5.

This comes after the Western Cape High Court set aside the VAT increase and the fiscal framework in favour of the Democratic Alliance DA and the Economic Freedom Fighters EFF.

Kieswetter says major retailers have informed the tax authority that they will reverse the VAT increase on their systems to ensure that VAT remains at 15 at the point of sale.
