The South African Revenue Services SARS has released former Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa Prasa CEO Lucky Montanas tax records to the public, in a media briefing in Pretoria.
SARS says it has acted within the legal prescriptions of the Tax Administration Act, which empowers the revenue service to disclose tax details of a taxpayer, to protect and defend the integrity of the tax system, if indeed false information has been peddled.
SARS Spokesperson Siphithi Sibeko says this was necessary following Montanas allegations against the public entity.
