The South African Human Rights Commission SAHRC says it will pursue relief against Economic Freedom Fighters EFF leader Julius Malema after the Equality Court found him guilty of hate speech.
In a statement on Thursday 28 August, SAHRC welcomed the ruling handed down on Wednesday.
The judgment reaffirms that freedom of expression, while fundamental, does not extend to advocacy of hatred that constitutes incitement to cause harm, particularly where such statements are made by persons in positions of power or influence, it said.
