Minister David Maynier visited Rosmead Central Primary in Claremont on 23 August 2025 to see the BackOn Track teacher training programme in action.
He spoke with teachers taking part in the Grades four and seven training to hear their feedback and observe sessions. In a statement, the Western Cape Government confirmed that the Grade four and seven teacher training is now accredited by the South African Council of Educators Western Cape Government .
That accreditation means teachers who complete the full programme can claim 40 SACE continuing professional development points. The department said 1 355 teachers are currently registered for the extra training across the province.
