The struggling South African Post Office has received a R1.8 billion bailout to stabilise its operations.
This was revealed by Communications and Digital Technologies Minister Solly Malatsi when he was presenting his departments budget vote in Parliament.
Malatsi says universal access to Post Office services as well as digital connectivity remains a priority,
"The SA Connect programme has been allocated R710 million to accelerate broadband expansion, particularly in schools, clinics and rural communities where access remains limited.
The South African Post Office is allocated R1.8 billion to fulfil its universal services obligations and improve service delivery.
