South African hurdler, Marione Fourie, has shrugged off the effects of a 10-week injury layoff to advance to the semifinals of the womens 100 metres hurdles at the World Athletics Championships, in Tokyo.
The 23-year-old finished second in her heat in 12.86 seconds, almost 4 tenths of a second slower than her personal best, but good enough for 4 automatic qualifications.
Middle distance runner, Tshepo Tshite, is also through to the semifinals of the mens 1500 metres.
