Rwanda is looking to deepen investments in digital literacy skills as the country works towards building a solid workforce ready to meet the needs of the globe. CNBC Africa spoke to Kunda Esther, Director-General, Ministry of ICT, Rwanda for more.
Rwanda is increasingly focusing on bolstering digital literacy and enhancing its ICT sector to prepare its workforce for global demands. In an exclusive interview with CNBC Africa, Esther Kunda, Director-General of the Ministry of ICT in Rwanda, shared insights into how the country is ramping up efforts to deepen investments in digital literacy and ICT infrastructure.
"We are driving initiatives under two primary categories," Kunda explained. The first thrust involves ensuring access to smartphones across the nation, a key strategy to close the usage gap and enhance connectivity. Rwanda has embarked on various collaborations, notably with telecommunications giants like Airtel and MTN, to implement device financing schemes. Through these programs, Rwanda aims to make smartphones accessible to as many citizens as possible, facilitating a digitally inclusive society.
