Motorists moving through Cape Town's inner city and Green Point on Monday should prepare for widespread delays as the Cape Town Minstrels Carnival brings a series of road closures to the area.
Large sections of the CBD road network will be inaccessible from early morning, with most closures taking effect from 6am and remaining in place until midnight, as per EWN . One of the major shutdowns includes Somerset Road, which will be closed entirely between Buitengracht Street and Granger Bay Boulevard for the duration of the event.
Several surrounding streets will also be unavailable to traffic throughout the parade, including Alfred, Chiappini, Napier, Dixon and Prestwich Streets, significantly limiting access in and around Green Point.
