The City of Cape Town has ramped up relief and recovery efforts in Dunoon Site 5 following a major fire that displaced hundreds of residents, with City teams, non-profit organisations and volunteers working together to provide immediate support and begin longer-term rebuilding planning.
The fire, which broke out on 9 January under windy conditions and affected 632 structures, leaving 2 604 people in need of assistance.
As noted by the City of Cape Town , Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis joined City officials and non-profit partners in Dunoon Site 5 to distribute essential supplies donated by Capetonians at fire station drop-off points across the city.
