We understand, 36-year-old Choupo Motong who has been out of the Cameroon team since the end of the 2022 FIFA World in Qatar is part of the line up of forwards picked by coach Marc Brys alongside regulars like Danny Namaso, Christian Bassogog and unattached captain Vincent Aboubakar.
Choupo has enjoyed the form of his life since switching to MLS side New York Red Bulls. The former Schalke O4, Stoke City and PSG forward has scored 16 goals and made two assists in 27 appearances for his US franchise.
That form has drawn him back into the center of national team conversation, with many clamouring for the return of the man currently ranked the fifth best scorer in the history of the Indomitable Lions.
His call up only enhances Brys reputation as a logical manager who places huge attention on performance when it comes to his decision to call up or field players of the team he is charged to manage.
If he gets his chance, Choupo who is Cameroon international since January 2010 will be hoping to add to his 22 goals scored in 76 appearances for his country.
The full squad of players retained by coach Brys will be announced this week.
