Red Carnation Hotels has launched 100 Princes Street Hotel in Edinburgh.

The 30-bedroom hotel is a mansion built in 1867 and was previously the residence of Lady Rosemary Clerk and Sir John Clerk. The mansion later became the home of a private club, the Royal Overseas League.

100 Princes Street was restored with design byToni Tollman,Philippe BoninoandBrian Brennan, the team behind the design of Ashford Castle in Ireland and Xigera Safari Lodge in Botswana.

100 Princes Steet offers a view of Edinburgh Castle from many of its roomsand a centrepiece wine wall has over 200 wines andwhiskies. A feature is a staircase with a hand-painted muralby Croxfordand Saunders inspired by historic Scottish explorers.

Rates at 100 Princes Street start from 720 (R16 715) per room for an Executive King room, according to redcarnationhotels.com .
