ramokgopa announces countrys pivot to cleaner energy sources

Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has announced the countrys attempts to cleaner energy sources and less reliance on fossil fuels. He was presenting South Africas Integrated Resource PlanIRP, calling it the biggest post- apartheid investment the country has made. Addressing the media in Pretoria, Ramokgopa said the plan is aimed at driving the countrys energy agenda, and create more jobs, and grow the economy.

We are presenting to you, not just an electricity programme but in fact were responding to an economic question, so were presenting to the country a R2,3 trillion investment programme and on the back of this were going to industrialise, and get people into jobs. The third thing that were doing is that for the first time since the recorded history of this country- especially on the production side of electricity- for the first time now, were going to see that electricity that is generated from cleaner sources of energy - is going to be greater than the fossil fuels.
