President Cyril Ramaphosa says his administration is committed to restoring the dignity of activists who died and were buried abroad, and to those who were subjected to indignities in foreign lands.

He was speaking at the reburial of the remains of former African National Congress ANC Secretary General Advocate Duma Nokwe , saying that the government must unashamedly honour those who suffered for the countrys freedom.

This is contained in his weekly letter to the nation on Monday morning.

Nokwe is amongst the 42 former freedom fighters who died in exile and whose remains were repatriated from Zambia and Zimbabwe last September.

He says government is contending with the countrys past in the interests of social cohesion and nation-building. They have advanced policies of restitution and redress to acknowledge and correct the historical injustice of apartheid.
