Australia outclassed South Africa by 276 runs in Mackay to avoid an ODI series whitewash at home. Batting first, Australia mounted 431-2 with each of their top three batters, namely Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green plundering hundreds to become only the fifth batting trio to tonk centuries in a single ODI innings. Green even slapped the second fastest ODI ton by any Australian batter, reaching the feat in just 47 balls.
Moreover, Cooper Connolly snared figures of 5-22 to record the best ODI figures by any Australian spinner in history. He also became the youngest Australian bowler overall to pick up five wickets in an innings.
