psg new signing chevalier sets focus on first silverware ahead of super cup

PSGs new signing, Lucas Chevalier, has said he is "immensely proud" to join Paris Saint-Germain and is already aiming to lift his first major trophy with the French champions when they play Tottenham for the Super Cup title, Softfootball reports.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper completed his move from Lille this summer, stepping into the No.1 role, overtaking outcast Gianluigi Donnarumma. The deal was said to be worth 40 million for the French goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Chevalier has said the decision to leave his home region in the north for the capital was made easier by PSG's current stature and ambition.

This was captured by Softfootball during the French goalkeeper's interview with the club's media team ahead of the Super Cup game against Tottenham on Wednesday in Italy.

Chevalier, who had a sterling season in the 2024-2025 football season, said it's a new beginning which is set to shape his career.

Here is what he told the PSG media team :

He continued:

The move also keeps him in France, which he believes benefits his development and his national team prospects.

He said:

His journey has been rapid, from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1, Champions League football, and a first senior France call-up in just over three years, but Chevalier credits hard work, a strong support system, and good timing.
