Transport Minister Barbara Creecy says government has received overwhelming responses from the private sector invited to invest in the countrys rail infrastructure.

In March, Creecy launched an online request for proposals from the private sector.

The minister delivered the keynote address at the 25th Africa Rail Conference in Sandton, Johannesburg. She says South Africa will produce a refined rail master plan before the end of the year.

There is significant appetite, so much appetite and so much interest that weve had to agree to extend the time deadlines to the end of May.
