Police in the Western Cape say they are confident that the investigation into former Mayco Member for Human Settlement in the City of Cape Town, Malusi Booi and his accused is on course.
This is despite the provisional withdrawal of charges by the Magistrates Court in Cape Town.
Booi is accused together with alleged 28s gang boss Ralph Stafield, and his wife Nicole Johnson of fraud for allegedly facilitating a construction tender of more than a billion rand to favour the couple.
Police Spokesperson, Novela Potelwa says they are confident the charges will be reinstated in due course.
The provitional withdrawal of commercial charges against Ralph Stanfield and 11 others is by no means of an indication of a failure by the SAPS Commercial Crimes Investigators, but rather a change on the direction of the investigation, taking into account new and additional information that the investigators became privy to. It is envisaged that the charges will be reinstated in due course, says Potelwa.
